High Commission gives good news about Indian visa resumption.
Assistant High Commissioner of India in Sylhet, Aniruddha Das, has said that all types of Indian visa processes will soon return to normal. He stated that medical and double-entry visas are currently being issued, and initiatives have been taken to resume travel visas and other categories as well.He made these remarks on Wednesday (February 18) in the afternoon while speaking with journalists at the Sylhet District Press Club.At the time

, the Assistant High Commissioner assured that maximum cooperation would be provided in issuing visas to further strengthen relations between the two countries.Tensions in relations between Bangladesh and India began following the political change brought about by the uprising of 24. Since then, India has limited the issuance of visas in Bangladesh.
Aniruddha Das said that the India–Bangladesh relationship is built on mutual respect and trust. He emphasized that the people of both countries will be the main stakeholders in a stable, positive, constructive, long-term, and mutually beneficial relationship.
He added that Bangladesh and India share similar thoughts and values. Both countries have been carrying their cultural heritage from the past, and they want to work together.
He said that geographical and cultural proximity, growing economic capacity, and aspirations for the future should be transformed into new opportunities through mutual cooperation. He added that through objective reporting and constructive criticism, journalists can further strengthen and solidify this relationship.
At the exchange meeting, the journalists present highlighted the prospects and challenges of trade and commerce, educational and cultural exchanges, and connectivity between Sylhet and India’s northeastern region.
They also called for the adoption of projects to support Sylhet’s socio-economic development through the Indian government’s “Aid to Bangladesh” and “LOC (Line of Credit)” initiatives.
Paying tribute to the martyrs of Bangladesh’s মহান মুক্তিযুদ্ধ (Liberation War), the speakers expressed their views in favor of making bilateral relations more fruitful to further reinforce the historic bond between the two countries.
The event was chaired by Sylhet District Press Club President Moin Uddin and moderated by General Secretary Mohammad Nasir Uddin. At the beginning of the program, remarks were delivered by the club’s Senior Vice-President and Sylhet correspondent of The Daily New Age, Moniruzzaman Monir.
